Combat & Skills

All 13 skills, combat styles, prayer/curses, early training routes, and how to check your max hit.

Avernic uses a focused 13-skill system. Hitpoints and Prayer start at 100; other skills start at 1. Combat XP is heavily boosted on Normal / League (×50), so early levels move quickly.

The 13 skills

  • Attack — melee accuracy (Accurate / Controlled)
  • Strength — melee damage (Aggressive / Controlled)
  • Defence — damage reduction (Defensive / Controlled / Longrange)
  • Hitpoints — health (XP while dealing damage)
  • Ranged — bows, crossbows, thrown (Accurate / Rapid / Longrange)
  • Prayer — bury bones or use an altar; unlocks strong custom prayers
  • Magic — Normal / Ancient / Lunar spellbooks
  • Crafting — craft Materials / Equipment / Other via craft UI
  • Mining — rocks (including AFK rocks that award AFK tickets)
  • Smithing — smithing content on the server
  • Thieving — stalls (can also award AFK tickets)
  • Slayer — tasks from Slayer masters
  • Alchemy — custom Avernic progression skill

Combat styles (how to train what you want)

  • Accurate — Attack (or Ranged with a ranged weapon)
  • Aggressive — Strength
  • Defensive — Defence
  • Controlled — splits Attack / Strength / Defence
  • Rapid (ranged) — faster attacks, trains Ranged
  • Longrange — Ranged + Defence

Check your live damage with ::maxhit. Check total drop bonuses with ::dr (and ::ddr for double-drop only). Skill notes also live on https://avernic.net/development/explore/skills.

Prayer & protection

  • Use Protect from Magic / Missiles / Melee while learning dangerous NPCs.
  • High-level prayers (Piety / Chivalry / Rigour / Augury path and custom prayers such as Destruction, Hunters Eye, Fortitude, Gnomes Greed) become available as you level.
  • Curses (Turmoil, Soul Split, etc.) are available on the curse book when unlocked.
  • VIP reduces prayer/curse drain — higher VIP = longer prayer uptime.

Early training plan (practical)

  1. Fight Blurite Goblins and early track monsters with food from the General Shop.
  2. Use ::track so kills count toward starter rewards (boxes / starter tokens).
  3. Bury bones from kills (or buy bones with starter tokens) to raise Prayer.
  4. When combat feels stable, start Slayer with ::slayer.
  5. When you need low-attention progress, use ::afk (Mining / stalls / idle tickets).
  6. Open ::drops before committing to a long grind so you know what you are aiming for.

Gear & power systems that affect combat

  • ::bis — best-in-slot guidance
  • ::upgrade — upgrade weapons / armour / accessories
  • ::bonus — set bonuses (Gladiator, Tarn Master, Death, Warlord, and more)
  • ::perks — permanent account perks (Lucky Hit, Gilded Touch, grinders, and more)
  • ::party — party invocations (Drop Luck, Combat Edge, Hardened, …)
  • ::forge — convert junk value into forge progress / shops
  • Talk to the server-perk NPC for world contribution buffs (x2 Slayer tickets, damage, drop, XP)
  • Donator rank multiplies damage and adds drop rate (see VIP & Donator Perks — Avernic through Avernic Emperor)
Food & escape
Keep food in inventory and always have an escape plan: teleport tab or ::home. Do not pull a new boss without prayer and food.
